Caryl Roese (M.Ed., LRAM, ARAM.)
As Head of Music at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC),
Caryl has spent half her life training teachers. Prior to this she worked with pupils in multi-cultural primary
schools in Wales & England and promoted the subject of World Music in several television appearances for S4C. Caryl has also been a school inspector for ESTYN (OFFSTED)
in primary and secondary education.

On several occasions she was invited as a guest lecturer to the Universities of Vaxjo/Sweden and Braunschweig/Germany to talk about her wide experience in world music.
In Africa, she taught at two Girls' High School in Cape Town, as well as lectured in the music department at the University of Cape Town. Her
special interest has always been in World Music which is the subject of this web site.
During her period in Southern Africa,
Caryl gave regular recital broadcasts for South African Broadcasting Corporation, sang in the opera and toured as a soloist for the
Cape Performing Arts Board. She also sang on Kenyan radio and television.
Since her retirement in 2002, Caryl has taken up her interest in the visual arts and has become a student again, studying Art & Design. To see her work, click here.
